The government on Tuesday issued an advisory for citizens and tourists to cooperate with the police and start early for flights and time-dependent movements.

For the last few days, there were massive traffic jams along NH 17-A (Margao-Panaji) and NH 17-B (Cortalim to Vasco).

To take stock of the problem, police, National highway authority of India (NHAI) and public works department (PWD) officials along with the staff of the Chief Minister’s office on Tuesday visited the site of the jams.  DGP Mukesh Chander, IGP Jaspal Singh, SP Dinraj Govekar and other officials were present at the inspection.

According to NHAI staff, congestion is due to the ongoing highway construction work and though the work is being done on a war footing, it will continue for some more months.

They also informed that they are unable to undertake temporary repairs of potholes along the route due to rainfall.

As a result, citizens and tourists are requested to cooperate with the police and start early for flights and time-dependent movements.
