A drive towards E-friendliness

With an objective on joining the dot for the larger interest of the society and the environment, Arjuntree One, has collaborated with Karo Sambhav in an e-waste collection drive.  

Raj Pai Panandiker, CEO and director of Arjuntree One stated,” We have tied up with Sushant Figueiredo, Goa representative of Karo Sambhav, an e-waste movement, and Sohan Prabhu, an e-waste collector of the Goa State Pollution Control Board to assuage the situation of e-waste in a controlled and systematic manner.” Speaking further he mentioned that it is their endeavour to provide a platform for local people to connect for the safe disposal of their e-waste. “We will be having our E-waste Collection Drive at Arjuntree One, Margao on August 4 and 5. In this collection, we invite people to drop off their electronic items in working or non-working condition apart from toners, printer cartridges tubelights and bulbs,” Panandiker said.  Citing an example of proceeds that would be donated towards 

charity, he mentioned that if they were to receive an old TV set in a working condition it would be given to a needy person.  

In reply to another question, he added, “The non-working items will be kept in two storage places, one in Margao and the other, in Miramar until there is a substantial amount. Once there is a truckload of e-waste stored here it will be sent to Chennai where it will be scientifically managed by an eco-friendly unit.”

“As per the E-waste rule of 2016 it is not correct of unskilled workers locally known as kabadiwalas to pick up scrap like LEDs and then dispose the acid into the environment thereby contaminating water-bodies and the soil,” he pointed out.  

The e-waste management authorities have made it mandatory to dispose off their electronic scrap to the authorized persons. We are only contributing towards the social cause by opening our space at our establishment in the commercial capital of the State,” he concluded.
