Dubai-based Goan singer, musician, song writer, lyricist Frizer D’souza known better by his stage name, ‘Friz Love’ came into prominence on social media with his well-received song on FC Goa posted on social media three years ago. Ever since, there has been no looking back for the talented singer, musician, song writer and lyricist who traces his roots to Goa Velha. He has been consistently coming up with meaningful You Tube music videos which have appealed to a sizeable online audience.

On July 15, Friz Love released his latest song, ‘Mogachem Attraction’ on his You Tube channel. “I listen to latest English songs which are very catchy and use electronic tones. As I was listening to one of the songs by Omi called ‘Hula Hoop’ it inspired me to compose something in the similar style. Music and lyrics just flows when I sit to compose songs. As I was writing the lyrics I felt I should mix Konkani with English words and that is how ‘Mogachem Attraction’ came up,” explained the artiste on how the song idea germinated.

Speaking further, he revealed that he first penned the chorus as the rhymes for attraction kept coming to mind like temptation, connection and illusion. Like his every composed song, this particular number wants to tell an important message. “I want to convey a very simple message through the song. Beauty is deceptive but not the good character which remains until we grow old and eventually die,” he revealed.

Interestingly, the whole audio of the song from music to the recording of the voice has been done exclusively on I-phone and at home.

Once you key in the title of the track on his You Tube Channel, Friz Love’ you will have your feet tapping to the upbeat rhythm of the song that catches the attention of any listeners with the chorus also being very catchy. A unique feature to the track is that after the chorus, there is another chorus which is in falsetto which gives a unique flavor to the song. The artiste has used different tones to make it sound different and more like Western music.

The entire video that is shot in Dubai had its fair share of obstacles. “The whole video was done with the limited budget. My friend, Mezio Fernandes was very generous to shoot the video for me. When he was not available I had to take the video shots by myself,” Friz Love admitted. Another hurdle they had to overcome was the Dubai weather which is very hot in June. “We had to wake up early morning before the sunrise to shoot the video. The shoot would go on till 7am in the morning and then wrap up. It took us three weeks to complete the song as we were juggling with work and shoot on weekends,” he divulged.

‘Mogachem Attraction’ features newcomer, Juwelia Savia Fernandes who enacted the young woman’s role. There are three child artistes as well, namely, Joaquim D’souza, Alicia Shirley Mascarenhas and Adrina Nicole Monteiro.

Besides regularly coming up with music video singles on You Tube, Friz Love has had two album releases.  “The year he came to Dubai, in 2013, to work, he released an album, “Tum Mhojem Sopon”, produced from his entire savings of that year. His selfless passion for music was rewarded a few days upon its release, when Friz Love got a job in Dubai. His only other album, “You’re my Valentine” was released last year.

Friz Love started composing songs as a precocious 12-year-old. “I recall I wrote a song for my teachers at 12 setting the lyrics on the music of the English number, “No Matter.” “Love for music started when I saw a priest called Fr Ransom Pereira, playing the guitar in my school. That very day, I came back home and made my own guitar of cardboard, strings were of nylon thread we use for fishing, and tuning keys were nails while frets were match-sticks. I used to roam the whole house playing my music. That was my craze for music. Abel, the music Sir who used to conduct the orchestra back then at Fr. Agnel School, Pilar, also amazed me,” he nostalgically recalled his journey into music. Friz Love expressed his gratitude to the Pilar Fathers who harnessed his musical talent to making him what he is today.

Till date, Friz Love has got 26 videos released of which two are promos. Mhaka Kiteak Podla leads with maximum views of 377k (Nov 2017). Mog Kudd’ddo (April 2018) with 291k and Niz Mog (March 2016) with 123k views respectively have also done admirably well. Coconut tree which released in April 2016 had the distinction of being featured on NDTV channel as well. It brought up the issue of the Coconut tree which was losing its identity with the Government declaring it as grass. His latest track, “Mogachem Attraction” has had an incredible response on You Tube crossing 16,000 hits in the last four days.

Though not having publicly performed yet or approached for the same, he strongly believes that he is not unduly worried and that everything had its right time. “When the time is right I believe and hope to perform across the globe with my own band giving the Goans in Goa and across the globe a new taste of Konkani music,” Friz Love declared.

“My aim is to reach out to Goan youth in Goa and across the world to love Konkani music. Nowadays, they are more inclined towards Western music. Why not give them something of their taste in our own mother tongue,” the 30-year-old artiste concluded.
