Mr Health Minister, does the media require permission from the hospital authorities to take photographs of employees using wheelchairs and stretchers to carry goods in the corridors of the hospital?

Strange it may seem, but true that stretchers and wheelchairs come in handy for the Hospicio staff and employees to move goods and saplings in the hospital premises. When The Goan clicked photograph of a hospital staff carrying saplings on a wheel chair on Monday, a senior nurse demanded to know whether the photographer has obtained permission from the Hospicio management to take photographs in the hospital.

In fact, in the absence of dedicated trolleys, wheel chairs and stretchers meant for patients are being freely used in the corridors and passages in the Hospicio for carrying goods. Monday saw a wheel chair used by a staff in the presence of a nurse to transport saplings in the hospital corridor. The nurse took strong objection to the photographer taking photos of the employees carrying the saplings on a stretcher, even going to the extent of questioning whether the photographer has obtained prior permission from the Hospicio authority to take photographs inside the hospital.

A couple of days ago, hospital employees were spotted with rice bags towards the kitchen in the absence of dedicated trolleys to transport goods within the hospital premises.

Using stretchers and wheel chairs for transportation of goods is not new in Hospicio. Some years ago, hospital staff were spotted carrying bricks on a stretcher after the hospital wall on the cemetery side collapsed.
