Giving a big boost for the police against the three accused from Indore arrested in the Betalbatim gangrape, the victim girl and her boyfriend have successfully identified the trio during an identification parade conducted by the Executive Magistrate.
Sources said both the 20-year old girl victim and her 22-year old boyfriend had no difficulty in clearly identifying the three accused during the identification parade, including dreaded criminal Ishwar Macwanna.
Sources said the successful identification of the three accused as the ones who were involved in the heinous crime at the Betalbatim beach has further boosted the evidence being collected by the Colva police against the accused persons. “The Police took utmost care that the identities of the three accused were never unveiled when they were in police custody. That’s the reason why the trio were made to wear masks while being taken for interrogations and investigations in the case,” remarked a Goa police officer.
An identification parade is being conducted by a Magistrate when the accused are remanded to judicial custody to ensure there’s no influence on the accused from the police during the parade.
In the meantime, the Colva police is on the job to piece together the evidence collected so far by the investigating officials. Sources said that the police is giving final touches to the chargesheet which is expected to be filed in the court of law at the earliest.
“We have already dispatched certain exhibits containing evidence to the Forensic laboratory, Hyderabad. Since it may take some time for the forensic laboratory to submit the reports, the police may even file the chargesheet against the accused persons at the earliest minus the forensic reports,” informed a police official in the know.
The 20-year old victim girl was allegedly gangraped on the Betalbatim beach last month by the three accused from Indore when she had gone to the beach with her boyfriend.
