PANAJI: As part of the Smart City project, Panjimites will soon get smart cards.
Disclosing this Director of IPSCDL, Sidharth Kuncalienker said with the smart cards, city residents will be able to perform smart transactions like paying water, electricity and various other bills.
This move is aimed at e-governance, he said adding the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), as well as other government offices, will soon be ‘paperless’.
He said government offices will be equipped with Point of Sale (PoS) machines, while Panjimites will be given ‘city cards’ absolutely free of cost. These cards will be used to make payments at government offices and will come into effect from July 30. All government departments will be mandated to accept digital payments, he said.
