Why should humans have all the fun? In a first of it’s kind, Pet Socials, a pool party for pets and their owners, conceptatualised by Mascot-Pet Lifestyle Stores, is all set to be held on July 1 at Green Amaze, Margao.

With background soft music and an MC to add flavour to the day, the event will witness a number of fun games and competitions including a beauty pageant where the most good looking and best well behaved pet will walk away with prizes. Pets will be treated to free check ups by vets and free consultations by trainers . A restaurant ‘Spicy’ will keep the party beasts engaged with hot and spicy munches, while their parents can eat at the food court. This is a fund raising activity. Some of the pet product manufacturing companies will also make an appearance at the venue and people can interact with them. A spa service to groom the pets will be available too. There will also be a free goodie bag for each pet as a return gift too.

Obviously, pool immersion is the biggest event. As for some of the pets it may be the first time that they will be entering a pool, professional swimmers from Bangalore are flying down to be present in the water in case someone needs help. Photographer Ajit Kenkre will set a pet photo booth, capturing memorable moments of pets having fun, which will be later sold for Rs 50 each and the proceeds will go for charity to dog shelters.

“We expect a crowd of 100+ pets and 250+ people at our event. We have also provided space for a local NGO to hold an adoption camp,” briefs Chaitanya Malkarnekar, the host and proprietor, Mascot. A genetic engineer turned an enthusiastic entrepreneur and a professional groomer, Malkarnekar deals with pet products and services and is well-versed with issues regarding pets, especially dogs and cats. “My father, Dr Vasant Malkarnekar, a veterinary officer who retired in 2016 from the post of deputy director (Health) in the government of Goa, has extended invite of the party to all his vet friends who have pets. So we will be having vets at the venue with their own pets as well who will entertain inquiries from owners of other pets and suggest solutions,” he adds further.
