MAPUSA: Crime Branch police on Tuesday conducted a search in the Mapusa Deputy Collector’s office and attached 15 files in connection with the sale of plots by Serula Communidade.
Armed with a warrant of the Principal Session Court at Panaji, officials of Crime Branch conducted a search in the Mapusa deputy collector’s office from morning to 5.30 in the evening.
“We have attached some files which are required for investigation. These files are being scrutinized,” said Satish Gaude, PI Crime Branch.
The crime branch department’s previous attempts to get hold of the files proved futile, after the Mapusa deputy collector’s office wrote to them saying that the files were not traceable.
“Now we conducted search of the office premises in Mapusa and traced 15 files and attached them,” PI Gaude said.
Admitting the visit of the crime branch officials in his office, Bardez Deputy Collector, Gaurish Sankwalkar said police sought some information regarding the Serula Communidade which was provided by his office.
“Crime branch officials had visited my office in Mapusa and they requested for some documents. We have to cooperate with them. I gave them whatever documents they needed. There was absolutely no reason of conducting any raid in my office,” Sankwalkar said.
“They have inspected the files and took whatever documents required in respect to the Serula Communidade case,” he added.
Besides being deputy collector, Bardez, Sankwalkar is holding additional charge of the Administrator of Communidade, North Goa.
Presently, he is also holding the charge of deputy collector Pernem and Bicholim.
