With Betalbatim rape case still afresh, 11 tourists mess around with boy & girl at Baga, all arrested

Less than a week after Goa police arrested three tourists from Madhya Pradesh in connection with the gang-rape at Betalbatim beach, Calangute Police on Wednesday arrested nine tourists from Pune for messing around with a boy and girl, both minors, in Baga. Two minor tourists involved in the incident were also detained in the connection.  

All nine tourists were arrested on charges of rioting, assaulting a minor boy and outraging the modesty of his minor sister, police informed.  

The incident took place on Tuesday at Baga beach.  

According to the complaint, the parents were sitting in a shack while their children were enjoying on the beach.  

Some 11 persons who were moving around the beach began taking pictures of their minor daughter, the complaint said.  

When the brother questioned them for clicking pictures of his sister, the boy was assaulted with fist blows and slaps by the alleged accused.  

Acting on the complaint, Calangute Police swung into action and apprehended the alleged accused.  

The accused, Ramesh Kamble, Sanket Bhadale, Krishna Patil, Satyam Lambe, Aniket Gurav, Rushikesh Gurav, Akash Suvaskar, Sunny More and Ishwar Pangare, all natives of Pune, Maharashtra are in police custody. Two other accused who are minors were sent to Apna Ghar, Merces.  

“We arrested all the accused before they could flee from the State. The mobile phone used to click pictures of the minor girl has been taken into custody and the same will be sent to forensic laboratory for analysis,” said Calangute PI Jivba Dlavi.  

A case has been registered under different sections of IPC and Sec 8 of Children’s Act.  

A Mapusa court has sentenced them to six days judicial custody. PSI Mahesh Naik is investigating the case.
