It’s a lazy weekend and you have just relaxed in your seat at Inox, planning to enjoy your popcorn over the latest release in Bollywood or Hollywood. As you glance at the screen filled with all sorts of advertisements, a familiar one catches your attention – that of Rekhas House of Cotton, exhibiting a variety of cotton terry towels – designer, beach, bath, celebration, speciality – you name it and they have it. 

With a corporate house in the heart of Margao and warehouse facilities at Margao Industrial Estate at San Jose de Arial, Rekhas House of Cotton is a leading manufacturer of towels, bath robes, bedsheets, pillows, bath mats and tub mats.

“Having our manufacturing headquarters at Jalandhar in Punjab, we provide a whole range of linen  in bulk to the hospitality industry in India and also export to countries like Australia, USA, South Africa, Guatemala, Nepal, Angola, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Madagascar, Iraq, Afghanistan,  UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Ghana, Malta, Mauritania, Tunisia, Mauritius, Libya, Tanzania, Mali, Mexico, China, Philippines and across Europe,” boasts Raghav Gupta, the CEO, Rekhas House of Cotton Pvt Ltd. 

“Registered in Goa since 2012, our company has around 500 clients in the hotel industry in Goa,” adds Gupta who along with his twin brother Maghav Gupta run the show. The company has plans to expand its operations to Shirdi in Maharashtra and Port Blair in the near future.  

Speaking on the product range they manufacture, Gupta elaborates, “Our bathrobes are tailored and designed as unique products in this segment and are available in vibrant colours, in soft cotton and with fancy collars. We know the pulse of the buyers and hence provide niche and trendy designs as per their specifications. We also specialise in Egyptian cotton towels, Modal, Zero Twist, Suprima as well as partially sheared towels which come with special inherent properties such as good absorbency, high durability, vibrant and fast colours, soft feel, quality finishing as per international standards and niche designs. These are also available in all the famous yarn qualities such as organic, bamboo, suprima, Egyptian, zero twist and micro fibre.”

The company produces an entire gamut of terry towels for its domestic and international customers. 

The diverse product basket includes solids yarn dyed dobby and jacquards, both valour and non-valour luxurious high quality terry towels ranging from 300 to 800 GSM towels and for bath mats 500 to 1400 GSM in 100 per cent cotton and cotton blends. 

There are varieties in piece dyed dobby that come with embroidery, viscos, special weaves, polyester insert etc. There are piece dyed jacquard and dobby and yarn-dyed jacquard and dobby along with sheared varieties in these. 

“Apart from this we have beach towels, pool towels, bath towels, spa towels too, all of which have dust rejection quality, are pre-washed, lint free, highly absorbent and durable,” claims Gupta.

The manufacturing facility of Rekhas House of Cotton is spread across an area covering 150,000 sq ft and the company has invested an amount of almost Rs One crore in a modern manufacturing plant that employs a team of around 900 qualified, experienced, skilled as well as unskilled workers. 

“Our products are being regularly inspected and certified by reputed international inspection agencies such as Bureau Veritas Industrial Services Pvt Ltd (BVIS), SGS and Bureau of Indian Standards, we being one of the leading manufacturers of terry towels in India,” states Gupta.

The company commenced its terry towel production in March 2006 with a small production capacity of 900 tonnes and has reached a production capacity of 2400 tonnes per annum now. Encouraged with the positive response from the customers the company is planning to increase its production capacity further. 

“Apart from our in-house production capacity, we outsource as well as cater to the regular demand of our buyers,” shares Gupta. In bed sheets, the company produces satin strip, hotel and plain bed sheets in white, red, blue, silver and multi-colour in cotton, linen varieties in various sizes – king, queen, single and double. The pillows are white, plain stripped with cotton, polyester fibre, micro fibre and feather, available in satin and cotton. They have foam pillows too.

The company showroom at Reliance Atria in Margao is currently being renovated and will soon be open for public.
