With July 15 being the D Day for elections to pick the new executive committee of the Goa Football Association (GFA), indications are that Anthony Pango has emerged as the frontrunner for the post of vice-president (South Goa).

Pango has already been approached by GFA affiliated clubs. “Yes. Surely I am keen to contest for the post of vice-president and the clubs have convinced me to take the plunge,” Pango told The Goan. “I am trying to get the feedback from the clubs. It is they who make up the GFA. They have to give me the signal and then the mandate. If they want, I cannot disappoint them. I am not after power, so there is nothing wrong to test the situation. The clubs are the best judges; they know the exact scenario in Goan football,” Pango said.

“Elections should be taken sportingly. There is no malice involved but in this contest, all that I have to show the clubs is what I have done over the years and what I can do, if elected vice-president,” added Pango, who is the executive member in the existing GFA committee.
