Dir of Health Services attacked by doc over delayed payments

Director of Health Services Dr Sanjiv Dalvi was attacked by another doctor Venkatesh R, over the issue of pending bills to the tune of Rs 72 lakh which were due to him.

Dr Dalvi in his complaint to the Panaji police said that Dr Venkatesh attacked him on the afternoon of May 24 in his office at the Directorate of Health Services at around 1:35 pm.  

On the other hand, Dr Venkatesh has claimed that he was continuously harassed by Dr Dalvi over clearing the bills amounting to Rs 72 lakh for the dialysis services he is offering at the government institute in Canacona.

Dr Venkatesh, is contracted by the Directorate of Health Services to provide dialysis machines to patients in Canacona and had come to Panaji to have his bills cleared.

Dr Dalvi has suffered injuries to his head and arms and was abused after being confined to his cabin.  

The police have arrested Dr Venkatesh and have booked him for wrongful restraint, assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty, causing hurt by dangerous weapons and abusive language.  

On the contrary, Dr Venkatesh claims that he was first attacked by Dr Dalvi with a paperweight and he defended himself.

Dr Venkatesh too has sustained injuries and fracture on his arm in the scuffle.
