Goa Forward Supremo challenged the Congress party to form a government “in the present situation” without involving the Goa Forward Party.

Responding to reports that the Congress was trying to join hands with the MGP Party, Vijai Sardesai said that there would be no government without the Goa Forward being a part of it even as he questioned the Congress double standards in calling the Goa Forward’s alliance with the BJP an “unethical” alliance while they themselves joined hands with the JD(S) in Karnataka.

“Let them make the government. I challenge anybody to form the government without me. You form the government without me and show me in this situation. I had taken a clear stand that for as long as Parrikar is in hospital we will not even talk to anybody. Nobody has even spoken to me -- there is no question of demands,” Sardesai said.

“We are in the government, we are the main pivot of the government. But just because we are in this government doesn’t mean that everything that this government is doing is correct. Because justice delayed is justice denied. The people should get justice and quickly,” Sardesai said.

“People have been saying that the post-poll alliance which was cobbled together up by people like me, was unethical. Have you heard this or not? All movements -- PDA, Goencho Avaz, what are they saying? That you hijacked the mandate. Because you made a post-poll alliance. Because according to them it is unethical. So if our post-poll alliance is unethical, your post-poll alliance with JD(S) is ethical? What you did in Karnataka by standing hand in hand is ethical? How is that ethical?” Sardesai questioned.

“So the hangover that hasn’t really passed away that the mandate was for the Congress… What mandate was with the Congress? MLAs are leaving the Congress, where are their MLAs even today 2-3 MLAs are not with them. Just because of the 10th schedule (anti-defection law) they are still with the Congress otherwise they are not,” Sardesai said.
