Margao Sports Club made short work of Parish Youth Nuvem 3-0 to move into the finals of Davorlim Cup football tournament, at Davorlim panchayat ground on Tuesday.
Both teams started the match in attacking mode and it was Margao Sports Club that slowly took over the control. Striker Necil Pinto sent a floater inside the rival penalty box and Cliff Baretto unleashed a snap shot but it was fisted away by the rival goalkeeper. Margao Sports Club nearly broke the deadlock but Necil Pinto’s rasping shot hit the crossbar.
At the other end, Parish Youth’s Jerose Olveira moved into the rival penalty box but rival defender Cliff Baretto averted the danger in the 8th minute. Parish Youth came agonisingly close when Cedar Colaco received a pass from Merriston Coutinho but the former’s shot was well blocked by Margao Sports Club goalkeeper Agnelo Noronha in the 22nd minute. Two minutes later, Margao Sports Club’s breakthrough came when Ashley Araujo’s shot dipped into the net.
