Sanguem PSI’s video kicking boy goes viral; gets transfer

Goa Police department received a massive blow to its reputation with  a video clip showing Sanguem Police Sub-Inspector Sudin Redkar  assaulting and verbally abusing a boy, going viral on several social media sites  and messaging apps on Monday and Tuesday.  

The video clip that has been shared by netizens many times over  since Monday, shows PSI Redkar kicking and verbally abusing a boy with  foul words, who is standing a few feet away from the body of his  deceased 

friend. 

The lanky PSI was apparently enraged as the boy did not give him a prompt answer to the question that he was asked. The PSI is heard abusing the boy in Konkani in foul language.        

It was learnt that the assault victim hails from Margao and had gone  with a friend for an outing at a lake in Sanguem. Unfortunately, his  friend drowned and 

died.

The body of the friend can be seen lying on a  bed of leaves a few feet away from the spot of the assault.  

The clip drew angry outbursts from netizens on social media with several of them expressing outrage over the cop’s behaviour and demanding quick action from the higher ups against him. 

Meanwhile, Director General of Police Dr Muktesh Chander on Tuesday  transferred Sub-Inspector Redkar, who was seen assaulting and abusing  the boy in video that 

went viral.  

PSI Redkar was immediately transferred to Goa Reserve Police,  Altinho after the incident was brought to the attention of the DGP.  

The DGP has also ordered an inquiry led by Superintendent of Police  (South) Arvind Gawas and SDPO Uttam Raut Desai into the video. 

Sources have revealed that the police have located the person who recorded the video clip and has already recorded the  statement for the inquiry against PSI Redkar.

The inquiry report is expected to be completed within two days.
