Brutally attacked by family of four at Bhimele beach

Police sub-inspector Prashant Bhagat attached to Vasco police station survived a murder attempt when he was brutally assaulted by a family of four at Bhimele beach late Saturday night.
Bhagat was attacked with an axe and sustained grievous injuries to his right hand and fingers. He is presently undergoing treatment at GMC, Bambolim. All four accused have been arrested.
According to Vasco police station PI Nolasco Raposo, a fire incident was reported at Vasco police station late Saturday night and the PCR van rushed to the spot. Prashant Bhagat who was the duty officer also rushed to the site. The fire brigade also rushed and fire was doused.
Meanwhile, naval officers present at the site claimed that Inacio Dourado and his family was responsible for lighting the fire in the naval area.
The police team along with PSI Bhagat went to Bhimele beach and requested Inacio and his son to accompany him to the police station to carry out preliminary investigations. However, Inacio suddenly rushed to his house, brought out an axe and assaulted Bhagat.
“Bhagat tried to defend himself, but was grievously injured on his right hand and fingers. We have booked four persons -- Inacio, his wife, son and daughter-in-law under Section 307 IPC (attempt to murder) and Section 353 IPC (obstructing govt officer while conducting his lawful duties)”, PI Raposo said.
Incidentally, there is another separate case registered against all the accused by the Indian Navy for causing fire in the naval area.
