Work on shorter road to Belagavi from Valpoi soon

Foundation stone for a 3.5-km road connecting Pali village and Belagavi road at an estimated cost of 1.80 crore was laid at the hands of former Chief Minister and Poriem MLA Pratapsingh Rane on Sunday. 

This road was a long-pending demand of the locals since last four decades. Once completed, it will be a boon to the residents of Valpoi and other villages of Sattari.   

“The file of this road was kept pending since many years. Thanks to Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and Poriem MLA Pratapsingh Rane, this road will see light of the day. It will cut down distance of around 40 kms from Valpoi to Belagavi,” said local panch Nilesh Parwar.  

Speaking at the function, Pratapsingh Rane said this road which connects the two states was the need of the hour. “This project will enhance the economic development of Thane panchayat as well as Valpoi town,” he mentioned. This road will also connect the villages like Surla, Keri to Thane Panchayat, he added.   

Highlighting the importance of education on the occasion, Rane said, “Education plays a vital role in developing remote areas and it is the responsibility of every local elected members to help those who want to seek education which will ultimately raise the standard of living of residents.” 

ZP member Fati Gaonkar, Thane village panchayat, Sarpach, Sarita Gaonkar, Deputy Sarpanch, Suryakant Gaonkar, VMC Chairperson, Parvin Shaikh, panch members, Nilesh Parwar, Vaishali Desai, Prajita Gaonkar, Lata Gaonkar and former deputy speaker Narhari Haldankar were also present. Uday Sawant compered the programme and also proposed vote of thanks.
