Fateh Hyderabad AFC registered a fluent 4-1 win over FC Goa Reserves in a Group B match of Second Division I-League at Holy Trinity ground, Benaulim, on Saturday. The visitors lead 2-0 at half time.

Fateh Hyderabad AFC dominated proceedings right from the word go and it did not take much time for the visitors to stamp their authority. Striker Sushil Meetei pounced on the deflection when right wing-back, Ponif Vaz ‘s throw-in saw Hitova Ayemi ‘s header hit the crossbar in the 23rd minute. And on the rebound, Meetei gently pushed the ball into the net much to the delight of the Hyderabad side.

At the other end, the home team failed to function as a cohesive unit and hardly made inroads in to the rival territory. FC Goa Reserves had few attempts at the rival goal but their forwards lacked the killer instinct. After taking the lead, Fateh Hyderabad showed much more enthusiasm in the remaining period of the first half.

The Goans could not keep the ball while the Southern-Indian side showed good promise. In the 44th minute, the home team threatened off a set-piece move where Peter Carvalho took a free-kick and Peixoto ran towards the left, however, his cross did not catch Laltanpuia Ralte off-guard as the rival goalkeeper parried off the effort.

In the 44th minute, Imran Khan laid a diagonal cross to Ghana’s attacking midfielder Godwin Quashinga, who brilliantly unleashed a snap-shot that hit the left post and eluded FC Goa goalkeeper Iprotip Das to give his team a 2-0 cushion. Earlier the vistors’ goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh fumbled with the collection off rival striker Liston Colaco’s free-kick, but collected the ball at the second attempt.

Post resumption, Fateh Hyderabad AFC showed the attacking intent with Imran Khan, Sushil Meetei and Hitova Ayemi in relentless attack. A third goal was imminent and it came in the finest of their moves. Storming down the flank, striker Imran Khan turned rival defender before setting a lob, and striker Hitova Ayemi’s header into the ground eluded the rival goalkeeper.

Down by 3 goals, FC Goa Reserves upped the ante and in the 57th minute, susbstitute Lalawmpuia was brought down by the rival defender inside the penalty box off Mohhamed Yasir’s pass; refereee Sumraj Sudhakani pointed to the dreaded spot.

Coach of Fateh Hyderabad AFC protested the referee’s decision in awarding the spot-kick. However the referee stuck to his decsion. Lalawmpuia himself converted the spot-kick to send the rival goalkeeper in the wrong way. Fateh Hyderabad went into an attacking mode and FG Goa Reserves central defender Meldon Silva effected a goalline block by heading the ball out of rival midfielder Edmond Peprah’s header.

FC Goa Reserves had couple of scoring chances at the fag end but substitute Arron Silva and Kingslee Fernandes spurned the easiest of the chances. In the injury time, Edmond Peprah drove the last nail into rival coffin off Hitova Ayemi’s pass.
