22 Goa-based firms get govt notices

The Labour and Employment Department on Monday issued notices to 22 private companies with units in Goa for contravening the Supreme Court guidelines on recruitment drives. These companies had hosted a job fair in Sawantwadi recently. 

Labour Minister Rohan Khaunte disclosed that, “show cause notices have  been issued to 22 private companies with units in Goa, which hosted  recruitment drives in Sawantwadi in contravention with the Supreme  Court guidelines of 1995 for compulsory notification of vacancies and  for contravening the Employment Exchange Act.

These companies include big names such as Cipla, Manipal, Bluecross, Bosche, Coca Cola, Zuari Engineering, Hindustan, Chowgule, Sai Services, CMM, Sun Pharma, DMA-Goa, Pai Kane, Alcon Victor Group, Deltin Droup, Bogmallo, Mercedes, Taj Court, Mukhtar, Counto Automobiles, Sriram Transport, Link Properties and Magsons group have been issued show cause notices. “The companies have been asked to reply within seven days,” Khaunte said.
