Sporting Clube de Goa defeated Churchill Brothers SC 2-0 in Goa Football Association’s Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Sunday.

Sporting Clube de Goa started the match on an attacking note and shot into the lead as early as the 5th minute through Marcus Mascarenhas’ strike past the rival keeper. Shocked by an early goal, the Red Machines went all out in order to find the equaliser in the match but missed a couple of chances as the scoreboard at half-time read 1-0 in favour of the Flaming Oranje.

Post resumption, Sporting Clube de Goa fought to hold on to their one-goal advantage while Churchill Bros tried hard to make it all square but the Flaming Oranje side did well to guard their citadel from the rivals.

Sporting Clube, who showcased a more defensive play in the second half, made attempts through counter-attacks and didn’t succeed for quite a while until Philip Odogwi drove the final nail into the coffin, snatching the three points from Churchill Bros in the 90+1’ minute.
