Mapusa side beat Don Bosco Engg to claim fifth consecutive inter collegiate c’ship

Sridora Caculo College, Mapusa beat Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda by 38 runs to emerge as champions of All Goa inter collegiate cricket championship 2017-18 for men organised by Goa University at University grounds. This is the fifth consecutive title for S Caculo College, while it was the maiden entry in the finals for Don Bosco.
Batting first, S Caculo College scored 157 for 6. Tunish Sawkar (21), Kaustab Naik (28), Umang Gosavi (30) Vaibhav Govekar (30 not out) were the main scorers. Sanat Mhapne, Nehal Bhind and Rahul Naik claimed a wicket each for Don Bosco.
In reply, Don Bosco could manage only 120 for nine. Saurav (31), Abhishek (20) and Sahil (30 not out) were the major contributors to the score. Tunish Sawkar (4 for 18) and Goving Naik (2 for 28 runs) bowled well for
Caculo College.
Earlier in the semi-finals, S Caculo College defeated Chowgule College, Margao by seven wickets. Chowgules posted 127/8 and S Caculo achieved the target, losing just three wickets. Meanwhile, Don Bosco College overcame the challenge of VM Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar by three wickets.
VM Salgaoncar were bowled out for 104 and Don Bosco got over the line, scoring 108/7.
