Acting on the peon’s complaint to the Chief Minister’s office, directorate of accounts and other departments concerned alleging corruption by two staffers in the sports department, the accounts department has taken serious cognizance and bills of the sports department have been kept on hold.

In his complaint, the peon has claimed that the two staffers have the blessings of senior officials in the sports department.

After a report highlighting the peon’s complaint regarding irregularities in the sports department appeared in The Goan, Director of Sports V M Prabhudessai issued a show-cause notice to the peon.

In the show-cause notice, it is said the peon has failed to furnish any documentary proofs towards his allegation, due to which image of the sports department had been tarnished.

He has also been accused of forwarding the complaint to various authorities and

media without taking permission of the officer concerned or director.

Peon is now directed to show cause why disciplinary action should not be initiated against him under the CCS Conduct rules.

Meanwhile, the peon has challenged the official to initiate action against him if there is no truth in the allegations. He has also said he is ready to prove all the allegations, if there is an impartial, separate and detailed investigation.

Sources told The Goan that some senior officials have begun harassing the peon ever since he exposed corruption in the sports department.

“An attempt is being made to file a police complaint against the peon to put hurdles in his way.,” said the source.

Meanwhile, the peon has maintained that he is ready to take responsibility for his allegations and is capable of proving them.

“This corruption has been going on for several years. I have bought it to the notice of the sports department and when there was no action, I filed my complaint,” said the peon.

“How can one remain silent to the corruption when it happens before your very eyes? Without investigating the complaint, how can these allegations be considered false and baseless,” asked the peon, while countering the allegedly vindictive actions of the sports department.
