Chinchinim Veterans move into semis

Chinchinim Veterans prevailed over Vasco Veterans 5-4 via tiebreaker to cruise into the semi-finals of Rachol Veterans football tournament at Camorlim, Ambora ground on Tuesday.  

Both the teams showed the attacking intent and had equal number of scoring chances. Vasco Veterans came close to scoring in the 12th minute when Francis outwitted a couple of defenders but his snap shot was blocked by rival defender Jerry Fernandes. At the other end, Chinchinim Veterans had a chance to surge ahead when Jerry Fernandes picked up the ball from Urban Fernandes but the former fumbled in front of rival goalmouth. 

Crossing over, Vasco Veterans put up a vastly improved display and Francis D’Souza and Fr Salvador worked in tandem but the latter was thwarted by rival defender. At the other end, Chinchinim Veterans did not lag behind as Marcelino Pinto’s long ranger sailed over the crossbar in the 39th and 48th minutes. 

In the tiebreaker, Chinchinim Veterans netted through Jerry Fernandes, Urban Fernandes, Presly Pereira, Josly Pereira and Marcelino Pinto while Vishant Pednakar, Uday Naik, Nelson and Shaikh Abu converted for Vasco 

Veterans.
