Woman Grand Master Bhakti Kulkarni (Elo rating 2305) clinched the BPS all-Goa Open Rapid Rating Chess Championship here.
The Salcete-girl remained unbeaten throughout the competition, scoring 9 points from 9 rounds to lift the prestigious title. In the last round, the Goa Carbon Brand Ambassador beat Om Barde of Bardez, who stood 12th. There were 184 participants in the competition out of which 67 were FIDE-rated players. The tournament was conducted by BPS Sports Club along with Salcete Taluka Chess
Association.
Anirudh Bhat (7.5 points) of Salcete emerged runner-up after he drew with AIM Cruz Wilson (7.5) of Ponda, who finished third. Ayush Shirodkar took the fourth position with 7.5 points after beating Paarth Salvi. Purushottam Kantak beat Vivaan Ballikar to finish fifth in the main list with 7 points. Cash prizes, trophies and certificates were awarded.
The tournament was conducted under the supervision of Chief Arbiter FA. Ashesh Keni and other Arbiters Sanjay Kavlekar,Swapnil Hoble and Jotsna Saipalli.
