Sub Registrar suspended for second time in 4 yrs

PANAJI: The government has placed Chandrakant Pissurlekar, Civil Registrar cum Sub Registrar, Salcete, under suspension, on charges of have caused a notional loss to the tune of Rs 48.27 crore to the state treasury.
Incidentally, Pissurlekar has been suspended for the second time in four years.
This information was provided to Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, who had sought details on the suspension of government servants since April 2014.
In its reply, the government stated that Pissurlekar had been suspended as Civil Registrar cum Sub Registrar, Salcete, on January 1, as per the decision of the Disciplinary Authority “as he conveniently avoided the process of timely referring the Deeds to the Collector South District to arrive at fair market price.”
“The difference between the probable fees charges ought to be deposited in the State Treasury viz a viz the fees/charges collected against the deeds dated 14/12/2015 have caused a notional loss to the tune of Rs 48.27 crores to the State Treasury,” the government said in its reply.
Pissurlekar was previously suspended as Civil Registrar cum-sub Registrar, Ilhas, Panaji, on May 22, 2014 for alleged demand of illegal gratification, stated the government in its reply.
He was later reinstated as per recommendations of the Suspension Review Committee and decision of the Disciplinary Authority.
Since April, 2014, as many as 21 gazetted officials have been suspended by the government on various charges and 13 of them have been reinstated during the same period.
