Fair price shops in the State could soon be sporting “Point of Sale” machines popularly called as card swipe machines “in order to bring in transparency and to curtail diversion and leakages in the targeted public distribution system.”

Governor of Goa Mridula Sinha in her speech delivered on the first day of the Budget session of the Goa Legislative Assembly also informed that 100 per cent Aadhaar seeding of ration cards has been completed.

“The Department of Civil Supplies is in the process of installing point of sale devices at all fair price shops. Almost cent percent Aadhaar seeding of ration cards has been completed,” the Governor said.

The Governor said that the government is “guided by the fundamental spirit of the constitution, committed to the welfare of the weaker sections, is working towards strengthening social justice and economic parity for the common man and is focused to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition.”

She said the National Food Security Act has been strictly enforced and nearly 5.43 lakh deserving people have been covered.
