The tulsi plant was the central focus of attention at the first of it’s kind, two-day Tulsi Festival held recently at Big Foot, Loutolim. Held in collaboration with the Department of Forests, the festival witnessed the participation from students and staff of B S P Gomantak Ayurveda Maha Vidyalaya, Shiroda, P E S Ravi Naik College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Ponda, and Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science, Margao. At the festival, the many varieties of this medicinal plant and its uses (both, medicinal and ritualistic) were displayed and discussed. Demonstrations featuring tulsi used in food and beverages were also held.
