MARGAO

Salgaocar FC recorded a big win as they handed Youth Welfare Club of Passagem-Assolna a 7-0 thrashing in the GFA Under-14 Salcete Zone play-off at SAG Artificial Turf, Fatorda.

The highlight of the match was a brilliant hat-trick by striker Gangaram C, while Sidney Gaonkar scored a brace. Sidney Lucas and Jordan also added a goal each as Salgaocar colts turned in a rollicking performance.

Salgacar outplayed their opponents in all departments of the game as they teased and tormented the rivals’ weak defence. The first goal was scored in the 9th minute when Gangaram scored with a neat finish. The second came in the 12th minute when Sidney Gaonkar punted the ball to the far corner of the net. In the 13th minute, Sidney Lucas added his name on the scorers’ list. Eight minutes later, Sidney Gaonkar struck a second time and they scored the fifth in the 22nd minute through the boots of Gangaram.

The change of ends made little difference to Salgaocar colts’ momentum and they scored the sixth in the 36th minute when Gangaram registered his hat-trick. Jordan drove the last nail into the rival coffin late in the

second half.
