CM Manohar Parrikar laid the foundation stone for the Rs 350 crore super speciality block of Goa Medical College which is being undertaken under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana.
The block, which has been at the planning stage since 2014, but could not move forward allegedly due to encroachment of land, could become operational as early as December 2019, the CM said.
The total project is estimated to cost Rs 350 crores. The state-of-the-art facility will bring specialized health care services to Goans in fields like endocrinology, nephrology, urology, neurology, medical gastroenterology, etc
It will segregate public places (hospital zone) from semi-public zone (institutional zone). This, in turn, will help decongest and reduce the patient load to create breathing space on the campus.
