Goa Sports Academy defeated Youth Sports Club of Khandola by 29 runs in GCA ‘A’ Division at the Academy ground, Porvorim on Tuesday. Electing to bat, Goa Sports Academy were all out for 150 in 40.3 overs. Openers Ajinkya Parte and Ritesh Faldessai raised a good stand of 42 runs in 8 overs before Faldessai was dismissed for 28 (31balls, 5x4).

Parte batting on 10 at that point of time, found in one-down Arjun Morajkar an able ally to raise another meaningful stand for the second wicket of 39 runs. Upon Morajkar’s dismissal through an unfortunate run-out for 12, a collapse was triggered. Parte was the fourth wicket to fall on a well-made 51 (68balls, 6x4). Khandola’s slow-left-arm bowler, Ravi Solanki did a star turn with a 4-14 in nine overs.

In reply, Youth Sports Club of Khandola were never really in the contest and lost wickets at regular intervals. They caved in for 121 in 26.1 overs. The only stand of some substance came for the second wicket between opener Samarth Gawas and one-down, Avinash Gawas who raised 32 runs before the former fell on 11. Avinash top-scored for Khandola with 34 (59balls, 2x4, 1x6). Lower-order batsman, Sachin Raut’s 20-run cameo helped the side go beyond 100 runs.

In the Goa Sports Academy attack, Vivek Khanvilkar put up an impressive performance with his off-breaks snaring six wickets, while conceding 47 runs in nine overs.
