Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar launched the website of Real Estate Regulation and Development Act (RERA) (https://rera.goa.gov.in/reraApp/) in the presence of Urban Development Minister Francis D’Souza. Parrikar also said that all ongoing real estate projects will have to

get registered online by February 24.

When asked of CREDAI-Goa (Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India) seeking 90 days from the launch of the website to register the ongoing projects, Parrikar replied, “The ongoing projects have to get registered on the website by February 24. But, if there are some problems, they (the builders) can always approach us. We will take a decision about it seeing the nature of difficulty,

which exists. But, I don’t guarantee any extension beyond February 24.”

RERA website will be a serious game changer for buyers as well as real-estate developers. On RERA’s website, there is a tab called ‘Defaulters’ under which information will be provided about projects and agents who have defaulted with RERA rules and regulations. The RERA Act provides for mandatory registration of all ongoing and future projects. All this will help buyers in knowing how genuine the agents and the builders are before buying real estate.

It was further informed that citizens will be able to check the updated profile of projects/developers before buying real-estate on RERA website. Moreover, citizens will be able to file any grievances

on RERA’s website itself without having to go to a government office.

Parrikar said, “Fly by night operators will be eliminated now due to RERA.”

Dr Desh Prabhudessai, president of the Goa unit of CREDAI, said, “The RERA act provides for online registration of all real estate projects. That’s why we had been urging the government to come up with the website. We have already told all our member-developers to register their projects on RERA’s website.”
