MARGAO: Claiming that some politicians are only out to make a show about the Opinion Poll, Congress MLA Ravi Naik on Monday demanded that the government should honour Dr Jack de Sequeira with the installation of his statue in the Goa Assembly complex and name the South district hospital after the great leader.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the SGPDA meeting here on Monday, Ravi reminded that Dr Sequeira is a big leader and his statue should be installed at the Assembly complex instead of naming a square at the old market circle.

“There are some politicians who are only trying to make a show out of the Opinion Poll. Dr Sequeira’s statue should be there in the Assembly along with Dayanand Bandodkar. Naming a circle at old market is not a befitting tribute to the father of the Opinion Poll. I was young when we had all fought under the leadership of Dr Sequeira to save Goa from merger with Maharashtra,” Ravi said.

Reminding that Dr Sequeira was a doctor by profession, the Congress MLA demanded that the South Goa district hospital should be named after the father of the Opinion Poll.
