Jog, Talpankar selected for Sahitya Awards

Gajanan Jog's collection of Konkani short stories ‘Khand Ani Her Katha' is among the 24 literary works to be awarded the Sahitya Akademi Awards 2017, while ‘Dirgh Moun Te', a Konkani translation by Prashanti Talpankar from Shashi Deshpande's book ‘That Long Silence', is among the 24 books awarded the Sahitya Akademi Prize for Translation 2017.
The awards were recommended by distinguished jury members representing different Indian languages and approved by the executive Board of the Sahitya Akademi which met on Thursday under the chairmanship of Sahitya Akademi President

Jog will be awarded a cheque for Rs 1 lakh, an award in the form of a casket containing an engraved copper plaque and a shawl at a special function during the Festival of Letters organised by the Sahitya Akademi on February 12, 2018 in New Delhi.
Talpankar will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a copper plaque to be presented sometime next year.
