Pernem police arrested two German nationals after they were allegedly found in possession of 64 gms of the psychedelic drug LSD worth Rs 64 lakh during a raid at a guest house in Arambol.
According to Pernem PI Sandesh Chodankar, the police received a tip-off four days ago that the accused, Sergius Manka (31) and Steinmuller Sebastian (35), had narcotics in their possession.
"As the guest house owner had not filled the mandatory ‘C' form pertaining to these tourists, it was difficult for us to find them. We deployed police constables to track the accused and they were successful in locating them," informed PI Chodankar.
Accordingly, a team of Pernem police laid a trap at the guest house in Arambol and found Manka and Sebastian in a room. Police also found 64 gms of liquid LSD worth Rs 64 lakh. Police seized the drugs, two smartphones and cash amounting to Rs 27,500.
Speaking further, PI Chodankar stated the guest house owners must submit details and photographs of foreigners in the prescribed ‘C' form to the police station.
"However some owners don't do that and the guest house owner at Arambol will also be booked for not filling the ‘C' forms of these two Germans," he added.
Pernem police later arrested both accused under Section 22(C) of NDPS Act.
