Villagers have expressed displeasure as street lights in many villages in Sattari taluka are yet to get LED lights.
The State government had decided to replace the old lights with LED lights and the electricity department had been replacing the old lights with LED lights in Sattari taluka for the last six months, but it is learnt that still street lights in many villages in the taluka are deprived of such facilities.
Speaking to The Goan, Pundalik Gaonkar from Nanoda-Bambar village said their village was deprived of LED lights. "Many streetlights are not working and the department is not taking the issue seriously."
Babaji Gaonkar from Khotoda also expressed displeasure for not having LED lights facility in their village. "If other villages are facilitated with such lights, then why some villages are deprived of such facilities," he questioned.
When contacted, Valpoi assistant engineer, electricity department, Joaquim Fernandes said that the quota allotted for Sattari taluka was over. "We have already placed order for additional LED lights, but sanction is awaited," he said.
"As soon as we receive LED lights, street lights in all the villages in Sattari taluka will get LED lights and care will be taken not to leave out any village," he added.
