One person was arrested on charges of attempt to murder at Candolim and has been remanded to two days in police custody on Wednesday, Calangute Police informed.
Anil Chavan of Candolim was brutally attacked with a barber's blade on the neck near the football ground Candolim at around 9 pm on Tuesday.
After getting information, police rushed to the spot and manage to apprehend the accused, Mantesh Ramesh Mardi of Orda-Candollim.
Police also recovered the weapon used in the assault, which was in possession of the accused.
According to the police, the accused was under the influence of alcohol at the time of arrest. The victim, Chavan, has been operated in GMC hospital in Bambolim and is currently undergoing treatment in hospital.
An offence has been registered against the accused under Sec 307 of IPC and PSI Girish Padloskar is investigating.
