Sporting Club of Davorlim scored an easy 2-0 win over United Club of Benaulim to win the All Goa Late Jose Bento Furtado memorial inter village football tournament organised by Navelim Villagers Union at Rosary ground. All the goals came in the first half.

Both the teams displayed attacking soccer and kept the crowds on their toes. Sporting Club of Davorlim troubled the rival defence with well orchestrated raids and Mabel Noronha rocked the rival citadel with a snap shot off a cross from Jordel Gomes in the 14th minute. Spurred by the early success, Davorlim intensified their attacks and doubled the lead six minutes later when Agnelo Colaco's blistering shot crashed into the net.
The Benaulim team failed to function as a cohesive unit. They came close to scoring when Arif Pathan's fierce long ranger hit the post. Post resumption, Sporting Club of Davorlim continued to dictate terms and nearly scored their third goal when Mabel Noronha's grounder hit the post much to the dismay of Davorlim supporters. United Club of Benaulim pressed hard but could not break down the rival defence.
Sporting Club of Davorlim pocketed Rs 40,000 and a glittering trophy for their efforts, while United Club of Benaulim were awarded Rs 30,000 and a trophy. Vijai Sardessai, Minister for TCP and Agriculture, was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Avertano Furtado, former MLA of Navelim; Fr George Aguiar, parish priest of Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim; Edwin Cardozo, ZP Member, and other dignitaries.
