Church-run Archdiocese Board of Education (ABE) now plans to imbibe ‘values' among children right at the elementary level through ‘Mulyavardhan', a comprehensive value education programme designed by Pune-based Shantilal Muttha Foundation.
After successfully implementing the programme on experimental basis in 30 of its schools, ABE has now decided to extend it to nearly 165 of its primary schools. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will soon be signed with the Foundation for implementing the same.
Nonetheless, the State Government has already introduced this programme in all government primary schools.
Mulyavardhan was first implemented by Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana (founded by Shantilal Muttha) in Bid district of Maharashtra.
Speaking to The Goan Everyday, Diocesan Society of Education Secretary Fr Zeferino D'Souza said, "The officials of Shantilal Muttha Foundation were constantly in touch with us. About three years ago, they had invited us to Bid to personally witness the implementation in their schools."
