PERNEM: The Congress workers on Thursday confronted Tourism Minister Manohar (Babu) Azgaonkar with black flags, to protest the demolition of two houses in the proposed Mopa airport land.
According to reports, after getting information of the Congress workers' protest, a large number of supporters of the Pernem MLA gathered at the site to counter the Congress workers, who were few in number.
Sources informed that Azgaonkar meets people of his constituency in his office at Pernem every Thursday to solve their problems. When Azgaonkar was on his way to his office, the Congress workers confronted him with black flags.
Later speaking to reporters, Azgaonkar said: "The two houses were built after land was acquired for Moga airport and if they were legal, I would have fought to give justice to the house owners."
"I don't mind about black flags if house owners get their houses back and I have not transferred any one. Transfers of some officers have been done on the orders of the chief minister," stated Azgaonkar.
