The 45th sugarcane crushing season was kicked off at Sanjeevni sugar factory on Tuesday at the hands of Sanvordem MLA Deepak Pawaskar. Dignitaries present on the occasion also included Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar, Sanjeevani factory administrator Umeshchandra Joshi, and other officials. Estimates suggest that total of 1.5 metric tonnes of sugarcane will be crushed this season.
