The Dr PS Ramani Goa Marathon to be held on November 5 had its last and final promotional activity in the form of a 5-kilometre walk-run event in Margao on Sunday.

The main aim of the event is to highlight the necessity of good physical health, mental health, motivation and dedication with perseverance. This annually organised event since 2010 in Ponda has received a great response since its inception with over 200 runners from across Goa in all its editions. The promotional run in Margao was organised by Dr Ramani in association with G'energy, an aerobic and fitness lounge based in Margao.
The 5km run was flagged off at the MMC building at 6 am and concluded at the MMC building a couple of hours later. The walk-run was flagged off by Dr Antonio Figueiredo, a specialist in brain, spine and peripheral nervous system surgery. Addressing the enthusiastic crowd of runners gathered at the registration spot, Dr Figueiredo said, "This turnout is as good as a marathon. Such fitness activities keep our mind and body fresh and help us be more productive in all spheres of our lives."
Genevieve Coutinho of G'energy sought to highlight that the run was organised entirely by an all-women group inclusive of all age groups. "It is an honour to be associated with Dr Ramani Marathon through this promo run. This run itself seeks to further the concept of women empowerment," she said.
Dr P S Ramani is a leading expert in the field of spinal surgery and is aptly known as the father of spinal surgery in India.
