Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has insisted that the circuit bench of the National Green Tribunal would not be worth it even as he remained tight-lipped over whether the State would file an appeal against the High Court's order.
"What you don't understand about a circuit bench is that we will have to create all the facilities and keep them running, but they (the bench) will come once a month to hear cases," Parrikar said.
"Pune is definitely an inconvenience. If you have to go to Pune you will realise it. You can ask the officers who have to go to Pune to hear cases what an inconvenience it is," Parrikar said.
When asked whether the Goa government would strengthen its legal team in Pune Parrikar said: "I do not have that much money."
The Goa bench of Bombay high had quashed a notification of the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change which said that cases emanating from the coastal state would be heard by the NGT's principal bench at Delhi instead of the NGT bench at Pune.
