Bardez Bazaar to construct 6-storey mall in Mapusa

Stating that Bardez Bazaar Consumer Co-operative Society will become the first co-operative society in the country to build a mall, Bardez Bazaar Chairman Gurudas Sawal said the construction work of a six-storey mall comprising two multiplex theatres will start in December at the cost of Rs 35 crore.
Addressing a news conference at Mapusa on Monday, Sawal said the customers will get all needed goods under one roof. "Its basement and sixth floor will be used for parking of vehicles," he informed.
Sawal further said the plan of the project is ready and PDA, PWD, Health Department and other departments have given their permissions, but permission from Fire and Emergency Service
is awaited.
"Once we get permission from the Fire and Emergency Service, we will present the plan to the Mapusa Municipal Council. MMC Chairperson Rohan Kavlekar and Councillor Sudhir Kandolkar have assured us to give approval for the project after submitting all the permissions from the departments concerned," said Sawal.
Sawal also thanked Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for his assistance to take up the project work. "Chief Minister Parrikar will visit Mapusa on October 24 and will review the project," he added.
Bardez Bazaar vice-president Ravindra Fogueri, directors Eknath Nagvekar, Narayan Rathvad, Chandrakant Shetgaonkar, R N Dessai and Nirmla Khalap were present for the news conference.
