The hosts who lost 0-3 to USA in the first match scored their first goal of the championship but that was not enough as they went down fighting 1-2 to Colombia.
But the way the young footballers stood up to the Colombians was a treat to watch and praises have been pouring in for the young lads, the future of Indian football.
Former India coach Armando Colaco termed India's performance as one to be really proud off.
"It was nice to see the way the India colts fought gallantly against fancied Colombia. Hats off to them. Inexperience was one of the reasons India lost."
Colaco had a special praise for goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh for his superb performance. "The goalkeeper was outstanding between the sticks," said the former Dempo SC coach.
Former India midfielder and Assistant Coach Mario Soares described India's performance against Colombia a mind blowing feat. "They gave their best but lack of finishing was the concern for the host. Kudos to the Indian boys and I urge the AIFF to retain the team for couple of years as this will be the nucleus of Indian soccer," and adding said ‘the goalkeeper was superb".
Coach of Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim Severino Fernandes hailed the Indian team's performance. "They played like champions and gave the opponents a run for their money. This performance will motivate the youngsters to plunge into soccer."
Jovan Dias, Salgaocar colts player too hailed the wonderful performance by India against Colombia.
