Assessing his defeat in the last assembly election, former Shiroda MLA Mahadev Naik said it was destined, but those who have taught him lesson for not giving government jobs have deprived themselves and others from getting jobs.
Former industries minister Naik lost to Congress leader Subhash Shirodkar.
"I have not insulted any person. The rumors spread that along with me, Ganesh Gaonkar, Subhash Phaldesai, Laxmikant Parsekar and Rajendra Arlekar used to behave proudly with people was wrongly portrayed," Naik said.
Expressing himself on the occasion of felicitation of Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar in Shiroda, Naik said he will always work for the society. This was first grand function organised by BJP post-election in Shiroda.
Union Ayush Minister Shripad Naik was also present on the occasion. "Even Vinay Tendulkar and Bhau (Shripad Naik) also faced defeats in the past, but they never stopped working for the people. I have also not stopped. I take my defeat as destined," he said.
"Now, everyone says that I had done lot of development works. Then what went wrong? (about his defeat). About 1,500 families wanted government jobs. Is it possible? Nobody can give so many jobs in one constituency. It's just impossible. I tried my level best," he said.
"Those who didn't get government jobs taught me a lesson, but they have deprived themselves and others of the jobs. This constituency will be in opposition for next five years," Naik explained.
He further said the reason of his defeat was that the opposition lured women voters by assuring Rs 5,000 for Griha Aadhar and 5,500 women cast their votes.
"I got only 3000 votes. Maybe they got attracted to Rs 5,000. Only three women out of 600, who were trained for garment industry, asked me when this industry will start, while rest didn't ask me. Maybe they were wondering why to do job when they will get Rs 5,000," Naik said.
"They didn't give a thought from where this money would come. It is not possible to give schemes with so much money. Only Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has that art to bringing money in the State exchequer," Naik commended Parrikar.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Shripad Naik congratulated Vinay Tendulkar and said there will be majority of BJP leaders in RS soon. "We have less number in RS, but will have majority there too soon," he said.
