Nearly 45 passengers had a narrow escape after their cruise boat engine failed and collided with a casino vessel in river Mandovi Saturday evening.

The incident occurred at around 6 pm when the engine of passenger cruise boat Om Sai failed and it collided with casino vessel Deltin Jaqk.
Speaking about the incident, an official informed, "Cruise boat named Catamaran Om Sai 2 brushed against the port side of M V Casino Royale, the Deltin Jaqk casino vessel. There were 47 passengers on board including 5 children. The cruise boat suffered an engine failure. It drifted and hit the casino vessel and then got entangled in the mooring ropes and the anchor of the casino vessel."
A dozen crew staff of MV Casino Royale saved the day as feeder boats could not come too close to the casino vessel. A monkey ladder was then used and the tourists were given life jackets. They were later brought back safely to the Santa Monica jetty.
No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. The cruise boat was freed from the tangled ropes only later at night. However, the exact damage will be assessed and confirmed on Sunday.
Though, the Captain of Ports was informed about the incident, no officials or cops turned up at the spot.
