PANAJI: Sunrise Sweets has a sweet mart shop at municipal market in Panaji.
Veljee said, "We also found that ‘mava' contained vegetable oil, which is not permitted under Food Safety Act. Actually, ‘mava' has to be milk-based. But, this unit had added vegetable oil to arrive at the required fat content, which is not allowed."
Veljee further informed that ‘mava' was stored in unhygienic conditions in a small room next to manufacturing premises. Over and above this, FDA also found packets of unlabelled ‘farsan', which did not have preparation date details.
FDA officials confiscated 15 bags of ‘mava' weighing 450 kgs and 12 bags of ‘farsan' of 150 kgs each at the manufacturing unit of Sunrise Sweets.
