At half-time, Maharastra eased into a 2-0 lead.
Dhaval Halpati from inside the box tapped the ball home and then Daxinbhai Halpati made it count from a direct free kick outside the D-area.
Post resumption, Maharashtra grew into the game and Daman & Diu sunk further to make it a no contest.
Maharashtra kept pounding goals at will and the gulf in competence was on ample display. Aryan Kamat scored the third goal from a rasping 25-yard crisp strike and found the target again with the fourth from inside the box. Crumbling under sustained pressure the Union Territory conceded another as a self goal from a deflection off Dhaval Halpati. Aryan Kumar completed his hat-trick by netting Maharashtra's sixth goal.
Teammate Anurag Solankee came to the party with the seventh goal while Aryan Kumar was in the thick of action to score the eighth goal and his fourth to end Daman & Diu's fallible outings in the competition.
Daman & Diu in its previous match on Sunday were walloped by hosts Goa 10-0. With the heavy defeats, the Union Territory bow out of the tournament. In the last Group A match, hosts Goa take on arch-rivals Maharashtra in what is expected to be a needle clash at 2.30 pm on
Thursday.
