The Congress on Sunday expressed confidence in the chances of their candidates at the fast approaching by polls with Leader of Opposition Chandrakant "Babu" Kavalekar saying that
the BJP has become jittery by the strength of the campaign.
"The BJP is claiming a lot of things. But the reality is that they are jittery. If they weren't then why do they need the support of allies and others to come out in their support?" Kavalekar asked.
He said that the series of press conferences called by several MLAs including coalition partners and independents to ask people to vote for the BJP is
only a sign that the BJP cannot win these elections on its own strength.
"Many of the MLAs body language betrayed that they weren't willingly endorsing the BJP. Given that one portfolio is yet to be distributed to ministers they probably are hoping that they get a plum portfolio, which is what is what is driving them," Kavalekar said.
He said that the party has received overwhelming support from the people during its brief but intensive campaign and that the same people who are angry at the manner in which the government was formed and the elections have been forced upon the people of Goa at much cost.
