Exactly after a week, the Goa Municipal Employees Association (GMEA) has decided to withdraw the strike notice against Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) after "amicably settling" all issues with the chief officer and the chairperson of the council on Thursday.
"We have decided to withdraw the strike notice issued to the MMC chief officer after all our demands were resolved amicably," said GMEA president Keshav Prabhu.
It may be recalled that GMEA had served a strike notice and decided to stop work from August 22 after MMC chief officer issued a controversial circular to the administrative directing them not to interact with the media persons.
Sources disclosed that the chief officer had agreed to keep the controversial circular in abeyance.
On the issue of confrontation between the staff
and the two law officers appointed by the council on contract, it was decided that the two law officers will henceforward not interfere with the staff.
It was also resolved to have a separate sitting arrangement for the two law officers, the source disclosed.
"I had a fruitful meeting with Chief Officer, Clen Madeira in Thursday afternoon. Later, I also met Chairperson, Rohan Kavlekar. All the issues have been resolved between the council and the staff," Keshav said.
